In a significant development for civic infrastructure in the Barak Valley, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to lay the foundation stones for three major water supply projects on Friday. The ceremony will be conducted virtually from the ISTT in Silchar at 2 PM.
The projects target three key municipal areas: Hailakandi, Lala, and Badarpur. To mark the occasion, the district administrations have made arrangements for public viewing. The Hailakandi District Administration has organized a live screening at Rabindra Bhawan, where residents can witness the inauguration of the ₹72.42 crore Hailakandi Water Supply Project on a large screen.
Simultaneously, a similar event will be held at Lala Rural College, organized by the Lala District Administration, to broadcast the ceremony for the ₹40.42 crore Lala Water Supply Project. The Badarpur Water Supply Project, another key component of this initiative, is slated to be constructed at a cost of ₹49.58 crore.
Both the Hailakandi and Lala events are scheduled to begin broadcasting the Chief Minister’s virtual address and the foundation stone laying ceremony at 2 PM.
