Heavy rain and strong winds disrupt power supply in several parts of the town.
A temporary festival gate erected on Udayanagar Road in Lala collapsed after strong winds followed a day of heavy rainfall, causing damage in parts of the town and nearby villages.
Residents said rain continued throughout the day, and by evening powerful gusts of wind swept across several areas. Although the rainfall subsided later, electricity supply remained disrupted in many locations, creating inconvenience for people.
The decorative gate had been installed as part of arrangements for an ongoing festival celebration in the area. Under the force of the storm, the structure gave way and fell onto the road.
No casualties were reported in the incident. However, locals said the sudden collapse created panic and temporarily disturbed normal activities in the area.
Some residents also noted that the situation could have turned far more dangerous had live electric lines been running nearby at the time. Following the storm, power outages were reported from multiple parts of Lala, adding to the difficulties faced by residents.
