Madhyamik 2026 Begins Today: 10,478 Candidates to Appear Across 22 Centers in Hailakandi

The High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or Madhyamik examination for 2026, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), is set to commence from Tuesday, February 10. In Hailakandi district, a total of 10,478 candidates are gearing up to appear for the pivotal exams across 22 designated centers.

To ensure a fair and disruption-free examination process, the district and police administration have established a robust security cordon around all venues. Officials confirmed that stringent measures are in place to prevent malpractice and maintain order.

Sensitive Centers Identified
Of the 22 examination venues—comprising High and Higher Secondary schools—authorities have classified 16 as sensitive to varying degrees. Seven centers have been marked as ‘very sensitive,’ while nine others fall under the ‘sensitive’ category, prompting heightened vigilance in these areas.

Candidate Breakdown
The Katlicherra Janaki Charan HS School will host the largest contingent of examinees in the district, with 744 students scheduled to write their papers under the supervision of Center In-charge Principal Mitali Purkayastha. Conversely, Hailakandi Town High School has the lowest count, with 265 candidates; this center, managed by Headmaster Safiq Ahmed Laskar, has also been flagged as ‘very sensitive.’
