CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to Blitz Barak Valley with Marathon Rallies and Silchar Roadshow on Friday

In a massive push to secure a clean sweep for the BJP alliance, the Chief Minister will address four public meetings and lead an evening roadshow during a high-octane, single-day campaign.

Eyeing a complete rout of the Congress in the upcoming polls, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to launch a whirlwind one-day election campaign across the Barak Valley on Friday, April 3. The tightly packed itinerary spans from morning to night, featuring back-to-back public addresses in Cachar and Hailakandi districts before culminating in a major roadshow in Silchar.

The regional BJP camp is highly optimistic about the visit, believing Dr. Sarma’s intensive campaigning will effectively turn the political tide into a “storm” in favor of the ruling alliance.

According to official sources, the Chief Minister will arrive at Kumbhirgram Airport on a flight shortly after 10:15 AM. From there, he will board a helicopter to kick off his marathon schedule at a temporary helipad set up at the Lala Multipurpose Higher Secondary School ground in Hailakandi district. Starting at 10:45 AM, Dr. Sarma will deliver a 45-minute address to drum up support for the party’s Hailakandi Assembly candidate.

Immediately following the first meeting, he will fly to the Palanghat Higher Secondary School playground to campaign for the Dholai Assembly nominee in another 45-minute session. The Chief Minister’s chopper will then transport him to a helipad adjacent to the Katigorah Hilara Block Office playground, where exactly 45 minutes have been allotted for a rally backing the Katigorah Assembly candidate.

The afternoon leg of the campaign will begin at 2:40 PM when Dr. Sarma departs for the Silcoorie Tea Garden field. There, he will lead his fourth 45-minute public meeting of the day, rallying behind the party’s candidate for the Borkhola Assembly constituency.

Wrapping up the constituency rallies, the Chief Minister will proceed to Silchar. Following a one-hour rest at a local hotel, he will hit the streets at 5:00 PM for a highly anticipated roadshow. The procession will wind its way from the city’s Itkhola intersection to the Netaji statue area in Rangirkhari, lasting for approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

Following the roadshow, Dr. Sarma is scheduled to spend a few hours resting in the Meherpur area. He will finally conclude his Barak Valley blitz at 10:00 PM, departing for Guwahati on a special flight from Silchar Airport.
